Free Books from Birth to Pre-K

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that sends free books each month directly to eligible children until their 5th birthday. This program is generously funded by local nonprofits, foundations, school districts, and individual donors in our communities. Thank you for your support!

Since 2014, over 750,000 books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library have been sent to young readers in Lane County, including almost 480,000 books in Eugene, over 140,300 books in Springfield, and more than 138,200 books distributed by United Way of Lane County to children in our rural communities. In total, more than 27,750 children have received books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Lane County!

Eligibility

Are you interested in signing up your child or children for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library? Here is the current eligibility to participate:

  • Children must be between 0-4 years old

  • Families must live within a participating community (see below for a list of eligible communities and where to sign up)

Bilingual English/Spanish Books

Bilingual English/Spanish books are available to young readers. During the registration process, please select “Bilingual English/Spanish” in the “Book Language” drop down menu under “Language Preferences.” 

Braille and Audio Formats

The Dollywood Foundation also partners with APH to provide young children who are blind and low vision with accessible books in print/braille and audio formats, ensuring that all children and families are able to share and enjoy the books they receive. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is hosted in Lane County by local affiliates including the Eugene Public Library Foundation, Springfield Young Readers, United Way of Lane County and Early Childhood Hub of Lane County, the Fall Creek Education Foundation, and McKenzie Education Foundation.
