Lane County Opportunity Conference
May 8,2010

United Way’s Financial Stability Partnership is offering Lane County’s first-ever Opportunity Conference on May 8, 2010. Opportunity Conferences are one of the strategies of PovertyBridge, a Portland-based organization that provides a comprehensive approach to assisting committed individuals move out and stay out of poverty. The goal is to build hope, skills and networks to overcome a life of poverty rather than just learning how to cope with it.

The conference is a day-long event for and by people living in poverty. Part of the curriculum is to pair people who are motivated to work towards financial stability (Captains) with trained community members (Navigators). Navigators will share their experience, knowledge and advice in a three-to-six-month mentor-like relationship with Captains.

If you are interested in being a navigator read the attached navigator recruitment letter.
