Moving Families from poverty to financial stability
One out of three households in Lane County, Oregon report they could only make ends meet for one month or less in the event of a sudden loss of income. United Way’s Income Action Area is working to help individuals and families become more financially stable which will strengthen our local economy and create a better quality of life for all.

United Way of Lane County funds programs that increase financial literacy, provide rent and utility assistance, help eligible low-wage workers receive tax credits, promote job training and career development and more through these funded partner agencies: American Red Cross, Centro Latino Americano, Committed Partners for Youth/Big Brothers Big Sisters, Downtown Languages, FOOD for Lane County, Goodwill Industries, Planned Parenthood, and St. Vincent de Paul.
The Financial Stability Partnership (FSP) creates pathways to greater financial independence for low-wage working residents of Lane County
Free Tax Preparation is available to help low-wage workers get all their tax credits and refunds. This is a critical effort for FSP and achieving United Way’s Income goal for 2020. Along with AARP and the IRS, free AARP Tax Aide sites throughout Lane County provide free tax filing for taxpayers with low to moderate incomes with special attention to those age 60 and over.
211Lane provides free, confidential referrals to a range of human support services in Lane County. Operators are on duty Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. OR, go to www.211Lane.org and click on “Get Help” to get connected with local services that assist with rent and utility assistance, finding helpf with tax filing and tax credits, and more.
