100% Access To Healthcare Initiative is Making Real Change
GOAL: Improve access to healthcare for the 62,000 uninsured Lane County residents.
UPDATE:Our newest community survey reveals that access to medical care and prescription medications for under- and uninsured people has steadily improved since the 2005 inception of 100% Access. The healthcare crisis is far from solved, but early 100% Access efforts like enrolling seniors in Medicare Part D, dental clinics, chronic disease self management courses, and creating collaborations between low- and no-cost clinics have had measurable effect.

Tax Assistance Sites Bring $4.6 Million to Local Economy
GOAL:To increase the financial stability of senior and low-income households by helping eligible residents file their taxes and receive tax credits.
UPDATE: In 2007 over 5,000 senior and low-income Lane County households received an average of $1,155 through free tax assistance sites. Help with filing taxes as well as applying for eligible Earned Income Tax Credits, Child Credits, and more, has resulted in $4,616,607 coming back to our community and these results are e-filed returns only. This local economic boost is projected to increase by a significant margin as paper tax files continue to be processed. United Way partners in this effort are AARP, Capitol One, City of Eugene, Points of Light Foundation, SELCO and the IRS. |
