Days of Caring - September 16 &17 2008
Talk about mobilizing the caring power of community – that’s exactly what the Days of Caring demonstrates! United Way of Lane County’s Days of Caring is an annual two-day event linking volunteer work teams with local charitable agencies to complete life enhancing and community beautifying projects.
In 2007, over 1,200 individuals painted, gardened, and built their way through
Lane County doing projects for local nonprofits. 50 companies stepped up and,
together, provided 80 separate work crews. We hope to top this impressive accomplishment
in 2008. The 2008 Days of Caring dates will be announced next spring.
What will you gain by participating in Days of Caring?
You, your company, service group, faith community, or friends will enjoy many benefits by participating in Days of Caring. For example, you will:
- Demonstrate strong corporate citizenship;
- Strengthen your team by sharing a project outside of your regular workplace;
- Learn more about your community, and;
- Experience the satisfaction of lives improved through a job well done.
What can you expect from your day?
Be prepared for a day of fun and hard work! You and hundreds of other volunteers will be working on assigned volunteer projects. Depending on your preferences and the needs of participating agencies, you could be doing anything from painting a mural for children in a group home, to helping Alzheimer’s’ patients enjoy an activity day.
