| When William Jones, a former Marine from Chicago, was laid off, he was forced to empty his savings to keep his family afloat. Through a United Way funded rent assistance program, they were able to stay in their home until William could find work. Now, William has a full time job, a baby boy and a new dream – to become a Lane County Sheriff. “We just needed a little help,” says William, “and now we’re going to be OK.” |
Success
By 6®
MISSION: Ensuring our children are safe, healthy, cherished and enter school ready to learn.
Success By 6® is not an agency or a program, but a community-wide children's initiative that brings together resources from a partnership of private businesses, government, faith communities, education, and health and human service organizations. Click here for our Success By 6® partner agencies and programs.
In Lane County, the Success By 6® initiative is focused on significantly reducing child abuse and neglect through prevention efforts as a first step towards ensuring that all our children enter school ready to learn.
Parents are the key. And parents are most successful in a supportive community. Through partnerships with many of Lane County's successful and ground-breaking human service agencies, as well as business, faith, medical, school and volunteer communities, we have developed the following strategies. Research shows that a combination of strategies works.
